We are Bené (meaning good)…because we are thankful for the community of bloggers, entrepreneurs, artisans and talented people that surrounds us in the Queen City. We are bené because we have been blessed with freedom. The freedom to be educated, creative and beautiful. #BeneBoss Continue Reading
Hey friends – Karen, here. I don’t know about you, but I have this habit of pinning all kinds of yummy recipes with every intention of cooking them, and then find myself going out to eat and spending way too much money on food. I’m trying to change that, so we’re starting a new series here on the blog called The Test Kitchen.
As we try out new recipes found on Pinterest and other corners of the Internet, we’ll review them here! Up first, the Copycat Chick-fil-A Sandwich from Damn Delicious and Cilantro Garlic Fries from The Talking Kitchen. Continue Reading
Last week, we were invited to attend the Founders Opening of the new exhibit, High Style, at the Cincinnati Art Museum. High Style traces the evolution of fashion from 1910 through 1980 with garments and accessories by designers including Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Charles James and more. Continue Reading
Fall and winter are a great time to get crafty. When it’s too chilly to be outside, what could be better than hanging out in your cozy house with some slippers and fun projects? Here are just a few crafts we’re pinning away for a rainy day…
We got together with the lovely ladies of Thread Cincinnati for a fun photoshoot last weekend (more to come next week!) and both ended up wearing our favorite pairs of coated denim. After owning these for multiple seasons, I think it’s safe to say this trend is sticking around for a while. Here are two different ways to wear them! Continue Reading
Arthur and I took a short trip to New York City for Columbus Day weekend. People that know me know NYC has a dear place in my heart. My relationship to the city (like many that have ventured to make it in the Big Apple) is alive and intimate. It’s a love affair, and the smallest arousal of the senses brings back a longing nostalgia. It should be no surprise that I made the most of my trip in town, planning months in advance to fit in every friend and restaurant I’ve been drooling over from afar.
Here are some of my favorite moments from the weekend:
1. Y7 YOGA
Because when your flight is canceled then delayed for 5 hours, you need a little sweaty me time.
As my friends and family know, I’m definitely a creature of habit. Whether it’s the dishes I order at specific restaurants or even the routes I take when driving somewhere, I like to stick to my tried and true. The same sentiment goes for the clothes I wear. This outfit is basically my favorite fall uniform: jeans, a sweater and a light jacket. Why mess with a classic, right? 🙂 Continue Reading
It’s hard to believe it but our little blog is turning one year old this week! Remember our very first post? In the past year, we’ve had a lot of fun and met some wonderful people. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane and look at a few of our collaborations from the past year:
Now, let’s talk giveaway! Kendra Scott is helping us celebrate our one year anniversary by raffling off a pair of signature “Danielle” earrings (a $90 value!) in the gorgeous slate shade – our personal favorite 🙂 As we mentioned in this post, Kendra Scott is opening their very first store front in Ohio later this month at the brand new Liberty Center. Thread Cincinnati is going to be working with them on some exciting events over the next few months – more to come on that later.
You can access the raffle below a Rafflecopter raffle
You’ll need to “like” our Facebook page and the Kendra Scott Liberty Center Facebook page. You can also get extra entries by following us and Kendra Scott on Instagram. We’ll contact the winner this Friday, October 9. Good luck!
PS. Sorry to our international readers – this giveaway is open to the US only.
It should come as no surprise that I fell in love with this top during a Nordstrom sale last year. I’ve been waiting until the weather cooled down to style this silk number. First of all, it’s black and white. Secondly, the diamond graphic contrasts the triangular pattern is such an unconventional way. Last but not least, it’s a blouse and buttoning all the way up is my jam.
Blue has been a regular pop of color for me – these sunglasses and handbag are daily musts. It’s so easy to hide behind black matte cat-eye shades, especially with the tinted reflective lenses. Who care if I’m mixing silver and gold?
Get ready to be seeing these coated black jeans a lot more, too.

**ANNOUNCEMENT: Remember when Thread Cincinnati hosted a happy hour to kick off the summer? Well, it’s happening again! Fall and winter (did you say holiday season?) are upon us and we have lots of exciting events planned and can’t wait to share with you. 🙂
Come out, grab a tasty cocktail and mingle with us Thursday (tomorrow), September 17, 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Sundry & Vice. See you there!
A couple weeks ago, the Thread gals were invited to a craft party with Gild Collective, a startup founded by three beautiful and creative women. With the fun classes (calligraphy, airplants 101 and hair tricks) we’ve taken lately and the knitting and crocheting we’ve taken on in private (story for another time), a collaboration with these ladies was a no brainer. We were just a little excited for this craft party.
We arrived with the #blogsquad on the rooftop of The Reserve, and immediately fell in love with the view.
Then we drank, ate and listened to co-founders Rachel, Jessie and Kelsey share their vision for their company and our project for the evening. Karen especially loved that we share a hero – Amy Poehler!
We each found a cute little box of goodies and instructions at our seat. Given that we’re style bloggers, the Gild ladies thought it would be fun to create our very own gemstone earrings. Um, YEAH!
After listening to the instructions and watching a quick video, we got to work.
Aren’t you so jelly of this view? The weather was lovely (doesn’t happen often in Cincinnati) and the backdrop of the city as we created our own little beautiful earrings was a blogger’s dream come true.
Aside from making our earrings, the best part of the evening was getting to know the lovely ladies behind Gild. They are so warm and inviting, and make you feel like you’ve been friends for years.

You know you want to get in on the fun, too! You can pick from either a Hostess-led class (kits, instructions and video included) or an Instructor-led class (kits, instruction, and instructor included). In addition, Gild is now offering Local Artisan Parties, where artisans and creatives from the community will lead more expert-level crafts. Dates for these are more limited, but definitely worth it. Also, look out for Gild at the City Flea or Craft in the Park in September!
Because you stuck through the whole post, you get a little treat – mention us or any of the Thread gals in the “how did you hear about Gild” when signing up and receive 20% off all of the kits when you book. Remember, hostess kits are always free!
