Arthur and I took a short trip to New York City for Columbus Day weekend. People that know me know NYC has a dear place in my heart. My relationship to the city (like many that have ventured to make it in the Big Apple) is alive and intimate. It’s a love affair, and the smallest arousal of the senses brings back a longing nostalgia. It should be no surprise that I made the most of my trip in town, planning months in advance to fit in every friend and restaurant I’ve been drooling over from afar.
Here are some of my favorite moments from the weekend:
1. Y7 YOGA
Because when your flight is canceled then delayed for 5 hours, you need a little sweaty me time.
We took most of Sunday walking around DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights and soaking in the beautiful weather.
Per usual, there were at least ten photo shoots (see that bride and groom?) taking place around us. Oh, and here I am being super giddy because, look at that view.
3. FOOD & DRINK
Sushi Nakazawa. To say I was excited about this meal is an understatement. I hate to use the word foodie, but I definitely have an interest in food and seek out new food experiences as a hobby. 30 days out at exactly 12am, I scored two coveted bar seats to savor Daisuke Nakazawa’s omakase on our trip. Who is Nakazawa? Go watch “Jiro Dreams of Sushi“. 🙂
Coffee is a part of my everyday life. But, something about sipping a hot latté (iced pictured) while walking around the autumn streets of NYC with a special someone/friend just gets me in all the right ways. We were able to hit up: Brooklyn Roasting Company, Blue Bottle Coffee and Ninth Street Espresso (my go-to).
When we weren’t eating or drinking, we were roaming the streets and absorbing in the noisy energetic beauty of the big city. There is so much to discover, and I’m already looking forward to the next time we continue this adventure.
