Distressed Out

This weekend, we had the opportunity to attend a mini class hosted by Shoppe Class and our local Madewell to learn how to distress denim. Shoppe Class is a network of local creative folks who offer classes once per month to teach a fun skill or craft. Past topics include mixing cocktails, screenprinting, and calligraphy, just to name a few! We have been dying to attend one of their classes but have never been able to make it work with our schedules. When we found out they were hosting a free mini class with Madewell, we registered right away. I mean, how can you say no to a little DIY at one of your favorite stores? You can’t.

The adorable and delicious cookies were hand-crafted by our local Brown Bear Bakery. YUM.

From the snacks and nametags to the individual work stations, they definitely thought of everything! Everyone who attended was equipped with a denim distressing cheat sheet, a piece of card stock, denim swatch and all kinds of distressing tools.

Guided by our lovely instructor, Carolyn, we learned a few different techniques and had time to practice.

After the class was over, it was time to shop! Inspired by Alice’s post here and her outfit during class, Karen had to buy this vest. Alice picked up a pair of awesome high-tops.

Thanks to the ladies of Madewell and Shoppe Class for a fun Sunday evening! Until next time.
